Delete your account.
1. Introduction
This page explains how to request deletion of your Nautis account and all associated personal data. Nautis ("we", "us", "our") is operated by EightTen Labs (Sole Trader) in the United Kingdom.
You can request deletion at any time, for any reason. Once we receive your request, your account and all associated personal data will be removed from our servers within the timeline described in §5 below.
2. How to Request Deletion
2.1 From Inside the Nautis App
The fastest way to delete your account is from within the app:
- Open the Nautis app on your phone or tablet
- Go to Settings
- Tap Account
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm the request when prompted
Once you confirm, your account is closed immediately and your data is queued for permanent deletion (see §5 for the timeline).
2.2 By Email
If you can no longer access the app or prefer to request deletion in writing, email us at [email protected] with the subject line "Account deletion request".
Include in your email:
- The email address associated with your Nautis account
- Confirmation that you are the account holder
We may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request to protect your account from unauthorised deletion.
3. What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove the following data from our servers:
- Account information: email address, name, username, profile photo, authentication credentials
- Log entries: all log forms, notes, navigation data, weather data, sail plans
- Trips: trip records, names, departure and destination data, status
- GPS tracks: all position, speed, heading, and timestamp data
- Photos: all photos attached to log entries and vessels
- Vessel information: registered vessels, dimensions, registration data, vessel photos
- Friends and social data: friend connections and invite-code relationships involving your account
- On Watch share links: any active or historical share links tied to your trips
- Device tokens: push notification tokens registered to your account
Local data stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the Nautis app.
4. What May Be Retained
We may retain some limited data after account deletion, in each case for a specific reason:
- Crash reports and diagnostic data: retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days from collection, then automatically deleted. These reports are aggregated and not tied to your account once deleted.
- Server backup snapshots: backups of our database are retained for operational recovery for up to 30 days, after which they expire and your data is removed from those snapshots as part of the standard backup rotation.
- Legal or regulatory records: if we are required by UK or EU law to retain specific records (for example, fraud-prevention or tax purposes), we will retain only what the applicable law requires, for the period required, and no longer.
Retained data of any of the above kinds is held under the security controls described in our Privacy Policy §5.
5. Timeline
- Within 7 days: we acknowledge your deletion request by email and close your account if not already closed.
- Within 30 days: all personal data described in §3 is removed from our active servers and storage.
- Within 90 days: all personal data is removed from our backup snapshots through the standard backup rotation.
If we cannot complete deletion within these timeframes for technical or operational reasons, we will notify you by email and provide an updated timeline.
